Getting married

When can we get married?
Monday – Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Fridays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Town Hall is closed for weddings on Saturdays/Sundays and national holidays.
During the summer holiday period (June – August) we might not be able to fulfil your wish to be married on a specific date.

Documentation and marriage declaration
We kindly ask you to contact us by phone or e-mail about available wedding dates and required documentation. In most cases we need to see documentation such as:
• Passports
• Birth certificates
• Divorce papers
• Etc.

You are also required to fill in and sign the marriage declaration – and then send it to us along with the abovementioned documentation at least 4 weeks prior to the wedding.

Witnesses
If you wish to bring your own witnesses, please note that both of them must be above the age of 18 and that we need to have their names and address in advance of the wedding.

Marriage fee
If both you and your partner have permanent residence outside Denmark it costs DKR 500,- to be married. Please note that we do not accept Euro or any other currencies.
The fee must be paid by you and your partner personally at Borgerservice one week before the marriage.

The ceremony
We offer marriage ceremonies in English, German and Danish.  In case you and/or your partner do not understand any of these languages you must bring an interpreter. This is at your own cost.
The ceremony always takes place at the Town Hall – never at your hotel or at the beach etc.
