General information about the Blue Flag Campaign
The Blue Flag Campaign is working to protect and safeguard the marine and coastal environment. This is done by rewarding beaches and marinas that make an extra effort for the environment and to raise the standard of the beach or the port.
The campaign is also working to inform about life and environmental conditions along the coast and ocean and its significance for man.

Who can be awarded the Blue Flag?
The Blue Flag is awarded to beaches or ports that meet certain requirements within the following 4 areas:
• Water quality
• Environmental Information
• Operation, service and facilities
• Security

The Blue Flag is awarded for one year, and a beach or port must be approved by both the Danish and the international Blue Flag Jury. The Blue Flag campaign is working for a global conservation of marine and coastal environment, and the Blue Flag can now be found in 41 European countries and in South Africa, Morocco, Tunisia, Brazil, Canada, the Caribbean and New Zealand. In these countries, the Blue Flag Campaign works for a better environment and a high standard on the beaches and harbors.

What does the Blue Flag mean?
The Blue Flag is a quality brand. It is a guarantee that the beach or port offers good conditions and that the municipality or the port in question works for a clean environment. Blue Flag beaches and ports are clean and well maintained, have rescue facilities, good toilet facilities, waste facilities and inform visitors about the natural and environmental conditions and the present facilities. All these factors will help you get a good experience when you visit a Blue Flag beach or port.
